Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens Coming in the First Half of 2023

The latest rumor suggests that Canon will announce a new RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM super-telephoto prime Lens some time in the first half of 2023. The new Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM will be 40% lighter and 30% shorter than the EF 300mm f/2.8L.

The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens is a telephoto lens that appeared in 2011. Although it has already been discontinued, no successor model has appeared so far.

Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens length and weight:

  • length:128 x 248mm
  • Weight: 2350g

So, if the total length is reduced by 30%, would it be about 170mm? The weight is said to be reduced by 40%, so it is about 1.4 kg.

The exact diameter x length and weight are unknown at present, but if the comparison with EF 300mm f/2.8L is true, there is no doubt that it will be an amazingly portable 300mm F2.8.
