Canon EOS R1
The EOS R1 is designed for sports photographers, wildlife shooters, news reporters, and photojournalists who require speed and accuracy. This camera offers the fastest processing in EOS history, along with the most advanced subject tracking and detection, ensuring that subjects remain in sharp focus regardless of their movement.
The R1 features robust operability, connectivity, and networking capabilities that professional shooters need, including a weather-sealed design with an integrated vertical grip, Wi-Fi 6E/Wi-Fi 6 support, and a 2.5Gbade-T wired LAN.
Built for speed, the EOS R1 offers an impressive 40 fps continuous shooting rate with an electronic shutter, eliminating blackout and reducing rolling shutter distortion. It utilizes a full-frame 24.2MP back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor, providing up to ISO 102400 sensitivity and neural network noise reduction for exceptional clarity and sharpness. The new Pre-Continuous Shooting mode can buffer up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed, ensuring you never miss a shot.
The R1’s powerful DIGIC Accelerator processing, paired with the proven DIGIC X and stacked sensor design, enables fast readout speeds and instant image analysis and AE/AF detection. This Dual Pixel Intelligent AF system, with its cross-type design and Action Priority setting, locks onto moving subjects and works seamlessly with improved Eye Control AF.
Beyond still photography, the EOS R1 excels in video capabilities, supporting integrated workflows with Cinema EOS shooters. It can record up to 6K 60p raw video or 4K 60p MP4 using a 6K oversampling area with 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling. The R1 also offers proxy recording with split saving to separate memory cards and various in-camera custom picture profiles, including Canon Log2, 3, PQ, and HLG.
Canon EOS R5 Mark II
The EOS R5 Mark II is designed for versatility, catering to a wide range of creators. Its high resolution makes it ideal for landscape photography, while upgraded autofocus and multimedia tools suit portrait and wedding photographers. Improved shooting speeds and processing make it perfect for wildlife and sports photography, and it functions as a true hybrid mirrorless camera with excellent video capabilities.
Previously not known for sports and wildlife photography, the R5 Mark II’s improvements in speed and autofocusing performance enhance its versatility. Borrowing technology from the flagship R1 and utilizing a higher resolution sensor, the R5 Mark II excels in fast-paced shooting situations due to its upgraded processing and stacked sensor design.
The camera’s 45MP full-frame sensor, upgraded from its predecessor, features a back-illuminated stacked design for high-speed readout and improved image quality. Sensitivity up to ISO 51200 supports low-light shooting, while Neural Network Noise Reduction ensures clean and vivid images. In-Camera Upscaling can produce 179MP stills, and the sensor is tuned to suppress flicker under fluorescents and LEDs.
Despite its high resolution, the R5 Mark II is also impressively fast, capable of shooting at up to 30 fps with an electronic shutter. The Pre-Continuous Shooting mode can buffer up to 15 frames before the shutter is fully pressed. The stacked sensor design and DIGIC Accelerator processing offer fast readout speeds and instant image analysis and AE/AF detection, elevating the autofocus performance to near flagship levels with refined subject detection and tracking capabilities.
As a true hybrid camera, the R5 Mark II excels in video recording, leveraging its high-resolution sensor to produce up to 8K 60 raw video and a new 4K SRAW recording mode for easier file handling. Recording times of up to 120 minutes are possible at 4K 60 settings and below. With an optional grip, larger recording formats or longer recording times are achievable. The camera also supports proxy recording with split saving to separate memory cards and offers various in-camera custom picture profiles, including Canon Log2, 3, PQ, and HLG.
