The latest rumors suggest that Canon is planning to announce two new tilt-shift lenses with auto-focus for the RF mount and a high resolution EOS R model in the next 1-2 years.
The two rumored autofocus tilt-shift lenses from Canon will be the Canon TS-R 14mm f/4L and Canon TS-R 24mm f/3.5L. The exact announcement timeframe is still unknown. But these two new Canon autofocus tilt-shift lenses for RF mount will be announced in late 2021. The tilt-shift lenses for the RF mount have been rumored for a long time, and these will be the first tilt-shift lenses with autofocus. As for mirrorless lenses, the short flange back is effective especially at wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses, so it seems that we can expect significant performance improvement (or miniaturization) for the two lenses that are rumored this time.
As for the high resolution EOS R we already know that it is coming (Canon EOS R5S). There are lots of rumors about Canon’s high-megapixel EOS R series cameras (EOS R5S?) after the release of Canon EOS R5. The previous report said the Canon EOS R5S high-megapixel camera is being tested by a very select group of photographers as a finished product, and it will feature a new 90MP sensor, which “just about doubles” the 45MP sensor of the Canon EOS R5. This high-megapixel Canon EOS R5S body will be squarely aimed at still photographers. Now it seems that Canon will raise the pixel level to a new level. Reliable sources indicate that Canon hasn’t yet internally decided on which image sensor will come in the new high-megapixel RF mount camera. And this high-megapixel Canon EOS R system camera will replace the Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R. It is highly likely that this high-megapixel RF mount camera will arrive in the first half of 2022.
