The RF Versions of Canon 300mm f/2.8 and 500mm f/4 Coming in Early 2022

The Current Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens

In addition to the upcoming RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM lens and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM lens (coming later this month), Canon is also planning to the RF versions of Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 and EF 500mm f/4 lenses:

  • Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens
  • Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS USM Lens

These two new Canon super-telephoto prime lenses are expected to be announced in early 2022. The Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L and RF 500mm f/4L are said to be much lighter and shorter than their EF mount counterparts. In addition, Canon may actually release the RF mount version of the 300 f/2.8 as a zoom.
