Canon to Release Three New RF Wide Angle Prime Lenses in 2023

In 2018, Canon unveiled their revolutionary RF-mount system and has been tirelessly crafting a lens range that can fulfill the needs of all types of photographers. Now, it appears they are set to continue their expansion in 2023. Rumors are circulating that the company will introduce three RF-mount wide-angle prime lenses during the first half of 2023.

Get ready – in 2023, three stunning new Canon RF-mount wide-angle prime lenses will be hitting the market:

  • RF 35mm f/1.4L Lens or RF 35mm f/1.2L Lens
  • RF 24mm f/1.4L USM Lens
  • RF 28mm f/1.4L Lens

First, Canon is set to launch their much-anticipated RF 35mm f/1.4L or RF 35mm f/1.2L lens, a faster, optically superior alternative to their current RF-mount 35mm lens, the RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM. Whether you’re shooting low-light street photography, indoor event photography or creating artistic portraits with beautiful background bokeh, this lens will be sure to open up a whole world of photographic possibilities.

Following that, Canon will be unveiling the long-awaited RF 24mm f/1.4L USM lens, a game-changer that is bound to complete the RF-mount lineup. As of now, there’s only one RF-mount 24mm lens available in the market- the 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM- an excellent option considering its price tag of $599; yet it cannot really fulfill the needs of serious photographers who demand a high-caliber imaging quality. The 24mm f/1.4L lens would be ideal in countless scenarios- be it capturing a special event, executing environmental portraiture, or shooting wide-angle street photography.

Finally, the prospect of an RF 28mm f/1.4L lens from Canon is certainly exciting – a pro-level glass which could offer a generous wide-angle field of view without going too wide. While details remain unknown and the rumors remain unconfirmed, Canon does offer the EF 28mm f/1.8 and EF 28mm f/2.8 lenses as midrange models – perfect for capturing stunning shots in a variety of situations.

If you’ve been waiting for one (or all!) of Canon’s fast primes, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for the official launch date. We still don’t have a precise timeline yet, but Canon Rumors has suggested that these lenses could be a part of a single release. So, what lenses would you like to see Canon roll out?
